Getting Started With Grammarly

Grammarly is a third-party, automated grammar, proofreading, and writing revision tool for academic writingGrammarly is a learning tool that works one-on-one with a student to develop writing skills, reinforce proper revision habits, and prevent plagiarism.

Grammarly will not fix your writing for you; it is up to you to incorporate Grammarly's feedback and decide what suggestions are most appropriate.

Note: If you already have a free account, you would need to log out and log in again at grammarly.com/enterprise/signin. The Pennsylvania Institute of technology provides free access to Grammarly Premium to all students and faculty members.

What is Grammarly?

Grammarly is a digital writing-support tool that provides powerful grammar, spelling, and plagiarism checking based on natural language processing and machine-learning technologies. It integrates conveniently into many of the places where students and faculty are doing their writing today, such as web browsers, Google Docs, office productivity software for the PC, and mobile devices. 

All Pennsylvania Institute of Technology Students, Faculty, and Staff have free access to Grammarly Premium. Please contact the P.I.T. Library for assistance in creating your Grammarly Premium account.

  • allows you to upload drafts of your writing assignments to receive immediate instructional feedback on over 250 points of grammar
  • highlights errors in your writing
  • explains how to correct errors
  • checks your citations
  • checks for plagiarism
